From rental pricing to how late the music can play, here’s everything to know before you book your event at Santa Maria Goretti Centre.

How much does it cost to rent the Santa Maria Goretti Centre?+
Rental rates depend on the room, day of the week, and whether your event includes SMGC food and beverage services. For catered events, Main Hall and Theatre Hall rentals start at $250 on weekdays and $300 Friday through Sunday.
Can the hall rental fee be waived?+
Yes! When using SMGC food and beverage services, the hall rental fee is waived once your event reaches a minimum food and beverage spend of $3,500.
What is included with the hall rental?+
Standard round tables, banquet chairs, standard table linens, and stage and podium access come with every rental, along with standard setup and teardown. Catered rentals also include food and beverage serviceware and event staffing.
Is a deposit required to book?+
Yes. A deposit confirms your booking and is applied toward your final event invoice. Deposits vary by room, from $500 for the basement spaces to $1,500 for the combined Main Floor.
Are taxes and gratuity included in the listed prices?+
No. Events are subject to a minimum 16% gratuity/service fee plus 5% GST.
When is payment due?+
Fifty percent of the projected event cost is due 30 days before your event. The remaining balance is due once your final guest numbers are guaranteed. Additional consumable charges incurred during the event are invoiced afterward and due within one week.
What is your cancellation policy?+
Deposits are refundable when an event is cancelled more than six months in advance. A $250 cancellation fee applies within 60 days of the event, and cancellations within 72 hours are subject to a fee equal to 50% of the final estimated invoice.

When do I need to finalize my menu?+
Menu selections should be finalized two weeks before your event, unless other arrangements have been approved by SMGC.
When are final guest numbers due?+
Final guaranteed guest numbers and dietary restrictions are due seven days before the event. You will be charged based on the guaranteed number if fewer guests attend.
What happens if more guests attend than I guaranteed?+
Additional guests will be charged accordingly. SMGC cannot guarantee food service when attendance exceeds your guaranteed guest count by more than 5%, unless arrangements have been approved in advance.
Do you offer children’s pricing?+
Yes! Children ages 5β12 are charged 70% of the adult meal price.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?+
Yes. Dietary requests should be communicated as early as possible, with final dietary requirements submitted along with your guaranteed guest count seven days before the event.
Can we bring in our own caterer?+
Outside catering is not permitted. Food served at the Centre must be provided by SMGC, unless another arrangement has specifically been agreed upon as part of your booking.
Can we bring our own wedding cake or desserts?+
Yes! Wedding cakes, cupcakes and other celebratory sweets may be supplied by an outside provider. Temporary cake storage may be available, but SMGC cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage while outside desserts are stored on the premises.
Can we take leftover food home?+
No. Food prepared by SMGC must be consumed on the premises and cannot be removed from the Centre, in accordance with applicable food-safety requirements.

Can we decorate the hall ourselves?+
Yes! Clients are responsible for setting up and removing their decorations unless other arrangements have been made. Decorating times must be arranged with the office in advance and are subject to room availability.
Can we decorate the day before our event?+
Advance-day event setup may be available for $250, subject to availability.
Are there any decorations we can’t use?+
Yes. Open-flame candles, dry ice machines, fog machines and glitter are not permitted. Rice, confetti and fresh flower petals may not be thrown or scattered on the premises. Unauthorized glitter carries a $150 cleaning fee, while misuse of rice, confetti or flower petals carries a $500 cleaning fee.
Can we attach decorations to the walls or ceiling?+
Only with prior permission from Centre management. Decorations cannot be attached to walls, ceilings, floors or other Centre property without approval.
Can we leave decorations or belongings overnight?+
Decorations should be removed immediately following your event unless arrangements have been made in advance. Other items left at the Centre must be collected within three days.

Can we have a DJ or live music?+
Yes, but entertainment arrangements must be confirmed with SMGC management. Applicable SOCAN and Re:Sound tariff fees will be charged for events using live or recorded music.
How late can music play?+
Music and entertainment must end by 1:00 a.m. If two functions are taking place on the main floor at the same time, loud music cannot begin before 9:00 p.m.

Does SMGC provide bar service?+
Yes. SMGC offers a cash/ticket bar with standard and premium beer, spirits, wine, coolers and other beverage selections. Ticket sellers are provided and bartenders do not handle payments.
Is there a bartender fee?+
For an SMGC cash/ticket bar, bartender fees are waived with a minimum $400 bar spend. Below $400, the charge is $25/hour per bartender, including two hours of preparation time.
Can we bring our own alcohol?+
Yes, under SMGC’s Client Supplied Liquor option. You are responsible for obtaining the required Special Event Liquor Licence and Limited Liability Insurance, which must be submitted at least 10 days before your event.
What is the corkage fee if we bring our own alcohol?+
The all-inclusive corkage option is $14 per person and includes mixers, lemons and limes, pop, juices and garnishes. Bottle-specific corkage options are also available.
Do we need to hire a bartender if we supply our own alcohol?+
Yes. An SMGC bartender is required. The rate is $200 per bartender for up to eight hours, with one bartender required for up to 150 guests and two for up to 300 guests.
How late can alcohol be served?+
Alcohol service must end no later than 1:00 a.m.

Is parking available?+
Yes. Parking is available at Commonwealth Parking Lot directly east of the Centre, across 90 Street. During stadium events, the Centre has dedicated parking for up to 60 vehicles.
What is the Centre’s capacity?+
The combined Main and Theatre Halls accommodate up to 420 guests without a dance floor, or 400 with a dance floor. The Main Hall accommodates 250/210, Theatre Hall 150/130, Centre Hall 180/150, and Club Room 80 guests.
